Title: Mathematical Modeling of the Development and Extinguishing of Forest Fires in Radionuclear Contaminated Areas
Authors: Кузик, Андрій Данилович; Лагно, Денис Вікторович; Попович, Василь Васильович; Іляшевич
Abstract: Fires in radioactively contaminated forests, particularly in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, pose a particular danger. During such fires, radionuclides migrate, depending on the level of radioactivity and wind speed. To assess the effectiveness of decisions made regarding forest firefighting, it is necessary to conduct mathematical modeling of forest fire spread processes and their extinguishing, which can be used to estimate the time required to complete the task as a criterion of effectiveness, taking into account the available firefighting forces and means and their tactical and technical capabilities. This will prevent the spread of forest fires and the volume of radionuclide emissions. Modeling was carried out by mathematical methods, developing formulas that describe the spread of the edge of a forest fire in the form of an ellipse. During the modeling of fire development and extinguishing processes, the area of the fire and its change over time were used as criteria, taking into account the spread and extinguishing. The modeling assumed the homogeneity of the properties of the layer of forest combustible material and the presence of a constant wind speed and direction. In this case, the fire area will be limited by an ellipse.
The suggested mathematical model of forest fire development and extinguishing is simple and allows obtaining the contour equation and forest fire area before and after extinguishing, assuming constant wind direction and speed and taking into account management decisions regarding the number of forces and means and their placement around the fire perimeter.

Abstract: Fire safety management in hotels is a critical area in today’s environment. Assessment
of fire risk in hotels requires a comprehensive approach that includes not only the development
and implementation of effective fire detection and extinguishing systems,
but also the organization of training for staff and guests in the event of an emergency.
In this context, fire risk analysis and fire safety management in hotels become extremely
important to ensure the safety of all people staying on the hotel premises. The main idea
of the dissertation is to identify the dominant fire risk factors in hotels in Ukraine, which
contributes to the classification and identification of patterns of their impact on the state
of fire safety in hotels. Based on cluster analysis, a close relationship was established
between the number of fires caused by malfunctioning electrical appliances, depending
on their type, at the level of 0.98-0.88, and the degree of fire resistance and the number
of hotel storeys. An integral risk indicator was proposed, which considers three types
of risk and allows us to assess the level of safety of the hotel building.

Title: Composting technology and product analysis based on the results of a pilot project in Lviv (Ukraine)
Authors: Grynchyshyn, N.,; Kuzyk, A .,; Shkumbatiuk, O.,; Datsko, T.,; Pastukhov, P.,; Shkumbatiuk, R.,; Bundz, S.
Abstract: Reducing the volume of solid waste disposal is the main task of Ukraine’s modern waste management system.
The significant share of organic fraction in municipal solid waste necessitates the use of effective methods for its management. Among the sustainable methods of organic waste treatment, composting holds a special place. This research is aimed at analyzing the environmental impact of industrial aerobic composting technology on the environment and the quality of the resulting product (compost) based on the results of a pilot project, which was firstimplemented in Ukraine in the city of Lviv. The impact on atmospheric air was analyzed by analyzing the dynamics of pollutant concentrations, measuring noise and vibration levels at the boundary of the sanitary protection zone of the composting station. The impact on water bodies was assessed by recording static and dynamic groundwater levels in a technical well. Physicochemical, microbiological, and antiparasitic indicators and the content of heavy metals determined the quality of the resulting compost. All studies were conducted following standardized methods. The research results were statistically processed using a standard statistical package and compared with the approved standards. It was established that the composting technology does not pose significant environmental risks to the air and groundwater and that the composting product meets the requirements of organic fertilizers. Matured compost is environmentally safe and suitable for use in agriculture. The experience of implementing a pilot project of aerobic industrial composting of organic waste in Lviv can be implemented in other cities of Ukraine to develop sustainable practices for managing the organic fraction of municipal solid waste
