Abstract: | The fundamental role of language in the interpretation of literary texts cannot be overstated. Language is the medium through which an author write a story or conveys an idea, and it carries with it the author’s unique cultural and linguistic background [1, р. 21–26]. In the case of linguistic differences, G. Gabriel maintains the “magical realism” in novels like “One Hundred Years of Solitude” is deeply rooted in his native Spanish language and Colombian culture. The nuances of the Spanish language allow for a blending of the everyday and the supernatural, which may not be as effectively conveyed in a translation. |
