dc.description.abstractThe article investigates the specifics and current challenges of professional training in foreign languages and interpreting in higher education institutions with specific training conditions, particularly in the civil protection and security sector. The relevance of the study is driven by Ukraine's active integration into the European educational and security space, which requires graduates to have a high level of foreign language proficiency for full participation in international trainings, joint operations, and humanitarian missions. It is determined that the key requirement for future specialists is the ability to ensure the operational interoperability of units and communicate effectively under extreme conditions of high psycho-emotional load, information noise, and time constraints.Based on an in-depth analysis of scientific research, the necessity of organizing the educational process with maximum approximation of learning conditions to the realities of future service activity is substantiated. A comprehensive methodology for teaching foreign languages and interpreting is proposed, which closely integrates authentic professional materials and a specialized system of exercises for the development of key psycholinguistic mechanisms: working memory, rapid attention switching, and anticipation (probable content prediction). The use of specific tasks is clarified: exercises on retaining precision information, restoring missing words, and text compression without loss of meaning.Special attention is paid to the practical implementation of the proposed approach: the author's textbook "Interpreting and Professional Communication in Civil Protection" is presented. It is based on modern regulations and materials of Ukrainian and leading international security organizations (INSARAG, NATO, IMAS, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, EU Civil Protection Mechanism). It is demonstrated that the use of authentic multimedia content from real rescue operations, territory clearance reports, and video reviews of special equipment (in particular for radiation and chemical reconnaissance, mechanized demining machines) contributes to a significant improvement in the professional foreign language and interpreting competence of higher education seekers. Working with such specialized sources containing a natural audio background and specific terminology allows training psychological resilience and effectively adapting interpreting skills to the unpredictable dynamics of emergency situations. The practical results of the research lay the groundwork for a gradual transition from receptive skills to productive interpreting activity in conditions close to reality.en_US
